The Media is how we get all information and form our expectations and views of society. It seems to be a common thread that the media spews out partial or even fake reports to align society to their flavor of the week.
A prime example are the Myths the Media Depicts on Depression, reported by Margarita Tartakovsky, M.S. in Psych Central. The article speaks on so many myths, and here's a few of them below:

What the media doesn't say is that 2 out of every 3 suicides are caused by depression, and 20-26% of women and 8-12% of men in their lifetime will have major depression. The media covers cancer, diabetes, heart attacks, etc. But what they don't say is that some of the main reasons for depression are due to these afflictions.
Through media, society has formed a Scarlet Letter for those who have Depression. According to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, 2 out of every 3 people with depression don't seek necessary treatment to aid their issues.

If you have depression, go seek out help. Science has proven that Major Depressive Disorder is the leading cause for disability in the US and Worldwide, and costs more to go on being depressed than it does to get treatment.
