It's truly amazing what you can do now in the world of marketing and advertising. Social Media has taken the world by storm and the brilliant young minds of this world are finding new ways every day to market on this platform.
Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to West Hollywood to support our friend Troy Solomon who was throwing an event for the LGBT Community called "Bear It All". With funding from This Free Life, an LGBT anti-smoking company, the event brought people together to celebrate their body image.
What's even more amazing is how they utilized social media to market the event and spread the word. When we walked in, we were handed a bag full of goodies and got a big hug from Troy.
Once settled in, 1 of the 3 girls came up to each of us to subscribe to This Free Life and a factoid questionnaire on the effects of smoking. The questions were powerful, educational and got us more free swag. Wrapping up, the girls put us in front of the This Free Life backdrop to take a picture and a gif. I immediately received a text message with the link to the gif and the pictures to share on social media.

The boarder gave their hashtag and twitter handle to promote even if people shared it without linking them. Over all the tables in the bar were business cards, post cards and signs that had Troy's brand (Image Graphic of himself) on them. Also on the tables were framed messages telling everyone to grab cards, a ring and to use specific hashtags when posting.
The last piece of marketing they used is my personal favorite. Troy was able to create a graphic for SnapChat for anyone to use as a filter. It blew my mind that someone could do that outside the company.
It was a pleasure and an honor being apart of such a great event that represented 2 big causes. What makes me so excited about this is how viral this can go. With all of the different ways Troy utilized social media and his influence, this message can be spread to inspire millions of people around the globe.
For any company or brand, these social media tools can help you market and possibly create something viral.
