Why Today If You Can Tomorrow?

I used to be a notorious procrastinator, especially in school. I'd wait until the day assignments are due and cram everything in. I actually taught myself to have amazing short-term memory with last minute studying for tests.

I was told many times by my mother and step-father to not procrastinate and to get it out of the way. Of course at that age I thought I knew everything, but I came to find out how right they were.

As I aged and grew, I learned a lot of life lessons the hard way. Personally I think you have to go through tough events in life caused by bad judgement to truly grasp the levity of each decision, but I digress. Procrastination was one of the top items on the list.

When I was working as a lead pharmacy technician, I had to compile and turn in a pharmacy report to the Store Manager. I had 2 weeks to do this project and kept putting it off. I figured I could just do it the day of and get away with it. It didn't seem like that hard of a report so I put it aside.

The night before the report was due, I partied with my friends and stayed out late. I woke up in a rush and was tardy getting to work, only to discover that the pharmacy was having one of it's biggest days of the year. I ran into the pharmacy to help catch up on all the prescriptions. The whole day I was stressed about getting this report done.

Turns out I didn't have a chance to do the report before the manager left. I got called in the next day and somehow walked out without losing my job. Fortunately, I'm excellent at sweet talking when I really need it. Regardless it left me freaked out.

When I got home that day, I flopped on my bed and reflected on the past few days. I realized that all this drama and stress was caused by my aptitude for procrastination. That day forward I made a real push for change.

This habit, like all habits, was very hard to break. Even today, 8 years later, I have to stop myself and redirect my mind to the task at hand. Anything that I have to do, I try to get it done that day or write it down on my to-do list for the next day.

If it's a big project, I note it in my calendar with multiple alerts and a due date days before it's actually expected.

With doing this, the benefits I've received are pretty awesome:
  • The stress in my life has decrease immensely
  • People are impressed by my promptness which helped with employment or sales
  • Employers loved me and gave me good perks and raises
  • I can effectively keep on top of anything I'm managing
  • My businesses run very efficiently.
Take care of your to-do list today, because you never know what will pop up tomorrow. That should be the real motto. This has been a huge step in creating a happier and healthier life for myself. Try it out and let me know how it worked out.

Crabs In A Bucket Principle: This Could Be Why You're Failing

They Suffer From "Crab in a Bucket Syndrome" They Seek to Keep You away from what they don not understand. They do not know they are harming you
Found on Work At Home Rockstar

Being the existential thinker that I am, most of my conversations revolve around society, building businesses and the reality of the world. Interestingly, a common thread through most of these conversations involve the "Crabs In A Bucket" principle.

I call it a principle instead of a syndrome because it's not a hereditary mutation of genes, but a societorial complex that has been ingrained in us for centuries. Especially in the lower classes.

If you put 1 crab into a bucket, it can easily grab the top of the bucket and lift itself out. Now, if you put just 1 more crab in that bucket, the crabs will not escape. When 1 of the crabs tries to lift themselves out, the other crab will latch on and pull it back down.

If you're from a small town or low-income urban area, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's hard to rise up and achieve success when you don't have much support from your peers.

Anything that you want to do that's out of the norm, like not partying to study or building a business instead of working at a 9-5, is looked down upon. If you're not doing what they're doing, something is wrong with you.

Usually, I have found those people had dreams and failed, or they fear failing the dreams they have currently. So if they can't make it, then neither can you. To most, the simple answer they'd say is, "Just move away from there" or "Don't listen to them and keep pushing". I can't explain to you how hard that can be.

You grew up there, you want to have fun with everyone else, your friends and family are there, you have no support outside of your area, etc. It's a scary feeling and I don't blame some people for staying.

When you see inspiring success stories, they usually originate from little wealth and class. But what people forget is the rejection of success factor, which make these stories amazing.

You rarely hear of a kid from money being rejected to do the things they dream of. They're encouraged to do these things, and they thrive.

Our society has escalated that jealousy factor to such a point that we are keeping people from attaining their goals. We hinder instead of inspire. To all the dreamers out there, take heed.

Look at the people around you. Are they lifting you up, or pulling you down? If you are feeling disheartened about your goals and dreams, chances are you might be with the wrong crowd.

Confidence is Key: 3 Ways to Learn Keep Successful

Found on New York Times
http://nyti.ms/2bZUw75
Since the day we moved into our apartment, I've been clocking in pool time daily. It's a great way to pass the time while I'm waiting for the sauna to heat up.

Through daily practice and games I've played with my girlfriend and neighbors. I have gotten much better. I studied the more advanced players on how they shot and what decisions they made during the game. I'm proud at what I have accomplished, but for some reason I do horrible in certain games. The shots that I miss are ones I've sank time and time again. What's going on with me?

I realized today what the problem was. It's an obstacle that I've faced multiple times in my life.

When I wasn't in the zone, I would look at the ball I wanted to hit multiple times. Lining up the shot again and again in my head. I would second-guess myself when I shot and miss the pocket. Now I am unsure of myself and miss the next few shots. I'm in a funk until I make an easy pocket to gain back my composure.

I lost my confidence. I noticed that when I didn't overthink the shot and just went with my instinct, the ball went in 9 times out of 10. I'd look at the desired ball I wanted to sink, line up the shot, look down at the cue ball once for aim and fired; looking at that desired ball all the way through the motion until it ricocheted off the cue ball and fell into the chosen pocket.
This ideology carries over to any area you can think of. To successfully learn anything you need to take these steps:
  1. Reach out to people in your industry to work under. Study everything they do when the pressure is on and off.
  2. Practice that skill EVERY DAY.
  3. Once you have gained the knowledge to at least be an influencer in the field, keep the confidence.
Almost every time you make an error, it's because you have lost that confidence. You have second guessed yourself. Take a step back and reflect on what you are doing. Instead getting down about it, psyche yourself up. You're amazing at the task and will accomplish it with ease.

Now that you have that thought in your head, go back at it. You won't make that mistake if you remember how good you are. You put in the time and energy. Don't let one lapse of concentration take you out. Believe and win.

How He Saved Countless Lives

Objection! How He Saved Countless Lives
Found on Know Your Meme
http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/objection

Yesterday my girlfriend and I were flying back to LA after a lovely 5 day vacation in Washington. I begrudgingly chose United Airlines to fly with only because they gave me a gift card for having a 13 hour layover a few months back. We got through the first flight without a hitch. The second flight though was delayed a few hours, but not for a usual reason.

All the passengers of the flight piled into the plane and took their seats. Once the pilots got to the plane from another delayed flight, we rolled out and taxied to the runway for the take off. While we were heading towards the runway, there was a very strange repeating sound that came from the airplane. Nobody paid much mind to it since the staff did not seem worried.

After a few more minutes of this, a man rang the help button above his seat. When nobody came, he rang it again and again until the attendant went on the intercom and stated, "Please be patient, we will help you once we take off. If this is an emergency then press the button again". Immediately he pressed it again and the attendant came over.
A few words were said and the plane taxied back to the terminal. The man was a plane mechanic for the company and said it was unsafe to fly. The passengers were angry and complained that he wanted to get it looked at. He was ushered off the plane, but he didn't stop. He went up to the supervisors and forced the mechanics to look at it.

Everyone stayed on the plane. Most were irritated, some were inquiring, some were anticipating what was going on. An hour later we were cleared to go and taxied back to the airstrip. They said nothing was wrong, but the sound was gone.

For speaking up, that man might have saved all of our lives that day. He utilized his knowledge and spoke up when no one else was going to. The crisis was averted.

Standing up for something will always have a negative push at first. It might even last longer than you logically thought it would, but the end result could save peoples lives or change the world. Think about that the next time you feel you should speak, and stand up for what you believe in.

Thoughts On A Ferry

Seattle Ferry, Thoughts on a Ferry

As the ferry is gliding towards the Seattle Bay, I’m looking out the window and pondering the ways of the world. The Isle is so beautiful. Full of forest filled inlets, sail boats and beach houses under a bright blue sky. I watch the people around me, playing cheerfully and gawking at the birds and scenery. Not a care in the world, or maybe they’re just good at hiding it… How interesting it is that this world we see is all ours to share, animal and humans alike, yet we found a way not to appreciate it by being run by money.

I have yet to understand why we run the world this way. Prime example is a father asking his kids right next to me, “How much are you willing to pay? What’s it worth to you for the donuts? I’ll write up the contracts.” It’s all in jest I know, but it’s an ingrained mindset in every human.

Thoughts on A Ferry, Money Rules Our Mind
Found on Tekton Ministries
http://bit.ly/2bNnJzH

Everything costs money. It amazes me that we have to pay a certain amount to receive anything we can produce ourselves, but if we try to collect certain things like rain water it’s illegal. You can only see and do things if you have money. You have to work “that job” to “pay the bills”. You can’t do what you’re passionate about because “There’s no money in it” or “I don’t have enough money to start it up”. Everyone is stressed because they owe people money and barely make the rent. Why can’t people just sit on a ferry and be happy? The truth is we do it to ourselves.

The only reasons why our world runs like this on a societorial level are because enough people believe in it, or a person in power made it a rule and not enough people rejected it.

Close your eyes and think on this. Picture a world that had no money. A world where you gave your share to humanity and lived life. All of your money problems disappeared because money didn't exist anymore.

How did you feel? Happy? It feels good right?

Constructs, beliefs, rules etc. are in life because of what we believe and what we accept. The way the world starts to change begins only when we begin altering our minds on a worldwide scale.

The Travelling Blogger

The Travelling Blogger: Travelling teaches you so much about life and opens your mind!

The past few years since I've been with my girlfriend, I have traveled more than I ever have in my life; and I love it. We've been to Mexico, both our home towns multiple times, and have driven around the country.

Today marks our 2nd of 5 days in Seattle visiting some of her friends. I have never been to Washington, let alone Seattle. It's a pretty amazing city with so many things to do. We went to downtown Seattle yesterday which I fell in love with. It's like walking through a time machine. Brick paved streets and buildings, trees were everywhere, it smelled so much better than Los Angeles, and the bars were very homey.

I have met a wonderful group of people here. We all met up in downtown and took a ferry to Bremerton where they live. We had such a lively conversation about politics that people were staring at us.

The view from the ship was so amazing. I got to see a part of Seattle that a lot of visitors usually don't see. It has already opened my eyes to the culture and the people of the area. A wealth of new ideas came to mind to write about and share.

I recommend traveling for anyone, not just writers and bloggers. It's a big world out there and so much to learn. I feel that I have grown more as a person, become more social, and have seen things that I will cherish the rest of my life.

I haven't made any more money than I have before I started travelling, it's all about how you manage your money and SAVE. You'd be amazed at what putting away $100 a month will build up to. Travelling is the best way to learn about life, learn about yourself and kick out that writers block.

Meditative Detox

Meditative Detox: What Meditation in a Sauna is doing for me.

One of my favorite parts about the complex that I live in is the community room. It's a huge open room with a couple couches, a pool table, a small refrigerator, and a men's and women's bathroom. Inside the bathroom resides my daily spot for meditation. The sauna.

Before living here, I had trouble getting into my meditation "zone". I have to find a quiet spot so I can filter and focus my million thoughts a second, and that's hard to find in Los Angeles. The way I used to get into my zone would be to shut the bedroom door, turn off the lights, turn up some calm music and lay on the bed. Even with all this orchestration, it took me some time to tune in.

The discovery of the sauna was a big delight for me. When I worked out at the gym, I always loved winding down in the sauna. It was a great way to detox and to loosen the muscles that I tightened from working out. Now, I have my very own sauna in the comfort of my own living area.

After a few days of hitting the sauna, I realized how quiet and relaxing it was. The heat enveloped my body like a blanket, the sweat dripping down my body was freeing. One day I closed my eyes and BAM! I went right into my meditative "zone". I was able to completely focus on what I wanted to wholly for the first time. When I opened my eyes, 10 minutes already flew by!

This is now my daily routine. I love the fact that I can detox and meditate at the same time. I feel healthier, more alive and motivated every time I step out of that sauna. If you're looking for a great place to find your "zone", try it here. Just remember not to stay in for longer than 15 minutes. Sweat on my friends!

Down The Rabbit Hole

Down the Rabbit Hole: Alice in Wonderland
Found on Strategic Socery
Yesterday my girlfriend and I had a very nice dinner with an old friend of mine. After eating some amazing food that he cooked, we lounged and talked for a while.

After a few drinks, our conversation steered to plausible future outcomes. We spoke of numerous ideas from aliens contacting us on a worldwide scale to Elon Musk's idea that our life is a simulation. For each one, putting aside our beliefs, we spoke on what we would do and what our reactions would be if these outcomes were to happen.

This is what I like to call, "Going down the rabbit hole". Imagining yourself in a world where a certain outcome happens and putting yourself smack in the middle of it. I feel it's an excellent way to open your mind to yourself and others around you. Since the outcomes are so varied and of different depths, there's never one answer to any of the situations. You get to witness a person's thought process of realization and solution along with your own.
To me, it lets me experience a person's core beliefs, and in a way their primal beliefs. If someone where to be proved they were completely wrong in their beliefs, how would they deal with it? Would they fight for freedom of the race or creed, or would they let someone else do that so they could take care of the weak? These situations delve into various archetypes, such as the warrior and the healer.

If you want to work with someone, this might be an interesting way of learning about them. It lets you know whether they're open enough with you to share these thoughts, or closed and guarded. I'm accepting of any belief, as long as it abides by Natural Law, but would it be wise of me to work with someone who cannot think outside their own beliefs? There are a plethora of ideologies out there, why not be open and accepting of them?

If you were able to be in someone's shoes and see the world how they see it, that level of understanding would break down walls and procure friendships. It would give both parties a view of how they handle situations, how they think, and a bond that goes deeper than normal friendship.

How Are You Doing Today?

The lack of communication between people today blows my mind. Putting aside your phones and tablets, do you talk to other people in a public place in person? Do you know how much it would make that person's day to just say hello to them?

Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to the Apple Store in the mall to see if her computer could get fixed. From the car to the store, I think I witnessed only one face-to-face conversation. Once we were inside, there were plenty of conversations happening, because people have to talk to the techs to get their stuff fixed or to buy something.

Regardless, it was pleasant to see. The customers were happier inside the store than they were in the mall since each tech welcomed you with a smile and engaged each and every customer. When we were shown our seats, a tech promptly came up to help us.

His name was Aaron. The way he spoke and interacted with us was very warm and inviting. He was adept in customer relations. As he was going through the diagnostics, I asked him, "How are you doing today?".
How Are You Doing Today? Ask This And People Will Smile
Found on Huffington Post
http://huff.to/2bKtYD9

He stopped what he was doing and stared at me for a few seconds. I looked at him straight in the eyes and held a smile. Once he broke from his trance he smiled back and said he's having a great day. He went on to say that he rarely has someone ask how his day is going. Throughout the rest of the service I learned all about what he loves and does for a living. He helped us so much and gave us the best advice to solve our problems.

The easiest way to make friends, influence people, and to bring out the best in someone is to take interest in them. This world is encompassed by instant gratification and taking. The more we give, the more we receive. I challenge you to take interest in someone today. Ask them how they're doing and what they're interests are. You'd be amazed at the impact you give to that person and how your life becomes more enriched because of it.

Take A Walk

Take A Walk GIF
Found on Herondaled
http://finnickodoirs.tumblr.com/post/37029778084/kellin-quinn-gif-hunt
Recently I have noticed that I haven't had as much energy as I usually have. I've been waking up later and drinking more coffee. Yesterday I was thinking about it while I was on my way to drop off a package. I took an Uber to the post office and sent the package off. When I walked outside, the sun was shining and the street traffic was low, so I started walking towards home. I wanted to go a few blocks down so it'd be easier to get a ride back. But as I walked a few blocks, I started feeling a lot better and more awake. I could smell the jasmine in the distance and it changed my mind. I plugged my headphones in and kept walking.

I instantly realized why I haven't had any energy lately. Since I've taken an extended break from the entertainment industry, I haven't been walking as much. And I haven't been running lately. I've been flying around doing different things the past few months or so which has affected my energy levels.

The classic rock and the amazing smells of the flowering trees that line the residential streets flooded me with happiness. The sun was beaming down and giving me some much needed vitamin D. The vigorous walking got my blood flowing and a good sweat on. I was able to zone out and focus on what I wanted to talk about for my next Podcast. My thoughts were crisp and clear. Ideas were rushing in.

The walk took about 25 minutes and spanned about 2 miles. When I walked into my place I was energized and ready to write. I got so many things done yesterday that I've been wanting to do for a week. The walk refreshed me. I slept better last night and I woke up earlier today. It's my body telling me that I was missing this much needed activity in my life.

If you're having a writers block, feel unproductive, or don't have a lot of energy; take a walk. Put on some feel good music or a podcast, leave the confines of your office or home and zone out. Let your mind wander and create. Your brain needs it for the exercise and as a catalyst for creativity.

Climb That Tree

The Tree I climbed to get in. Climb that tree.

Yesterday afternoon I was sitting on the couch in the common area reading a great book. I was waiting for the sauna to heat up so I could do my daily detox while the laundry was in the drier. The day was looking great until I realized something was missing.. I forgot my keys inside my place and the door was locked.

Over the next 30 minutes I tried picking the lock unsuccessfully with whatever I saw around me, contacted my landlord by email since I didn't have her phone number, and asked my girlfriend when she was coming back home.

The whole time while I walked back and forth from my front door to the commons area, I kept passing the tree that was in front of my living room window. I thought about climbing the tree but there was a neighbor that I didn't know at the pool and I didn't want to freak her out trying to break into my own place.

So I went back into the commons area and started reading again, letting my mind wander and think about what I should do next. I knew that climbing the tree was the only option to get in immediately, but I was holding myself back for fear of being watched. It was weird because I normally would do this sort of thing without thinking twice.

I sat there unsuccessfully trying to read my book when a good friend and neighbor strolled over to say hi. I told him that I locked myself out and the first thing that came out of his mouth was, "You wanna Climb That Tree?"
With new inspiration, I quickly went over to the tree to inspect how I was going to climb it. It had a pretty steep slope, jutted away from the window and I was only wearing flip-flops. Being the risk-taker that I usually am I decided to do it and think later. I took off my flip-flops and went up bare-footed. Trying to unlock my inner ape, I held onto a thick branch with one hand and steadied myself with my feet on the sloping tree. Once I was even with the window, I realized I couldn't undo the screen with my fingers.

Instead of giving up, I asked my awesome neighbor for a flat head screwdriver to open it. While I was waiting for him to get it, I was holding myself in that 30 degree angle with one arm. It wasn't the best of feelings, but I was determined. Once I received my tool, I had to lean even further out to unhitch the screen and push aside the window. Once I was able to do that I hit the hard part, climbing in..

There was about 3 feet between me and the window. I had to climb up the tree further to get a better angle and to be able to grab onto the sill with both hands. Now about 7 feet in the air I was scared to fall, but still hardheadedly determined. When I got into position, I gave myself a 3 count and thrust myself onto the window. Thankfully I had enough strength to lift me up and pull myself in.

I was elated by my accomplishment and the fact that I pushed myself through the struggles. I climbed that tree.

In life there are a lot of trees that you'll need to climb to succeed. It might be scary, it might be steep, it will be very uncomfortable, obstacles will stall you, but keep pressing on. Once you have decided to push forward, the tools and the ability to accomplish the goal will come to you. Everyone has the power to succeed, you just need to keep climbing that tree.
