One of the most unique qualities of an influential leader is their ability to communicate. Throughout time, a leader's knack to communicate has led armies, countries and movements. Some of the best speeches ever made came from the best communicators the world has seen.

Although it may seem that this quality is something that you're born with, the truth is quite the opposite. The best communicators had to learn and practice to become the way they were.

Just like any other skill out there, knowledge of how the skill works and correctly practicing will lead to massive improvements, if not mastery of the subject. Below are 3 ways to learn and practice what you need to know to become a better communicator.

  •  Take Improv Classes - Wait, really? Oh yeah. Improv classes get you out of your shell and teaches you how to create a story with your partner. As Professor Jeffrey Arterbum states in his paper on Communication and the Art of Improvisation, "Improv serves as a communicative method designed for spontaneously solving problems as they arise"

  • Listen - The best communicators don't talk as much as you think. Elizabeth Palermo writes about this in a Business News Daily Article. What you don't say might be the most important part of the conversation. You were born with 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. Listen to your audience and connect with what their needs are.
  • Simplify The Complex - Inspired by a Forbes Article from Susan Tardanico, being able to simplify things in this complex world is paramount. Communicators can take the jumble of ideas and strategies, break it down, and provide simple solutions for people to understand.

There are so many rules, steps and ways you can utilize to become an excellent communicator. These 3 practices give you the most essential communicative qualities while offering stimulation for your mind.

If you're having trouble communicating, I urge you to try these out. Growth is induced through change and dedication. Post a comment if these ways work for you.

Anyone Can Learn To Teach

What are you passionate about? Is there anything at work that you are proficient at? Do you get irritated when people don't understand your logic? Then you have something to teach.

We've been taught in school that you need years of schooling and a degree for this or that to be able to teach anything. This is completely false. You have the tools to teach if you are knowledgeable in something and a love for helping people grow.

The best way to teach more people is through the internet.

Find a nicely lit area of the house with a solid light-colored wall. You want the background to be plain so nothing in the background distracts the viewer. The lighting needs to be bright enough to see you completely. The darker the set the more pixelated the video.

You don't need a professional camera to film yourself teaching. An up to date cell phone works just as well. Set the phone in a position that captures all of you and the area you might move or point to. If you need a board to write on, make sure that it's in the shot as well. Make sure it's not hard to see yourself in the shot. The student needs to see the teacher.

Keep the content short and sweet. If you can throw some jokes in, laughter is always great. The best way to learn is by keeping the viewer intrigued. If you let your passion speak, people will be interested in seeing you. There's nothing more mesmerizing than seeing that spark in the teacher's eyes when they're teaching what they love.

Film yourself a few times and make sure it's a clean edit. Screwing up is okay, but if you can edit it correctly you'll have a nice clean video. YouTube is a great avenue for uploading the videos. You can put them up there or find a skill-sharing website to connect with.

Websites like Skillshare will pay you for posting your teaching videos. Sign up with them and submit your videos. If they accept your submissions, promote your page. Every time someone views your video or pays for the training, you get paid too!

The world needs to see what you're passionate about. The internet is about learning anything you want at the click of a button. We consume so much junk on the web today, lets make it more educational and productive by creating and posting your teaching videos.

Take A Walk

Take A Walk GIF

Recently I have noticed that I haven't had as much energy as I usually have. I've been waking up later and drinking more coffee. Yesterday I was thinking about it while I was on my way to drop off a package. I took an Uber to the post office and sent the package off. When I walked outside, the sun was shining and the street traffic was low, so I started walking towards home. I wanted to go a few blocks down so it'd be easier to get a ride back. But as I walked a few blocks, I started feeling a lot better and more awake. I could smell the jasmine in the distance and it changed my mind. I plugged my headphones in and kept walking.

I instantly realized why I haven't had any energy lately. Since I've taken an extended break from the entertainment industry, I haven't been walking as much. And I haven't been running lately. I've been flying around doing different things the past few months or so which has affected my energy levels.

The classic rock and the amazing smells of the flowering trees that line the residential streets flooded me with happiness. The sun was beaming down and giving me some much needed vitamin D. The vigorous walking got my blood flowing and a good sweat on. I was able to zone out and focus on what I wanted to talk about for my next Podcast. My thoughts were crisp and clear. Ideas were rushing in.

The walk took about 25 minutes and spanned about 2 miles. When I walked into my place I was energized and ready to write. I got so many things done yesterday that I've been wanting to do for a week. The walk refreshed me. I slept better last night and I woke up earlier today. It's my body telling me that I was missing this much needed activity in my life.

If you're having a writers block, feel unproductive, or don't have a lot of energy; take a walk. Put on some feel good music or a podcast, leave the confines of your office or home and zone out. Let your mind wander and create. Your brain needs it for the exercise and as a catalyst for creativity.
