Here's the funny thing about destiny. You can talk about it all you want, but it'll never happen unless you work towards it. Sounds crazy I know. Unfortunately, sitting on the couch all day saying, "I'm destined to be a movie star!" won't make you a movie star.
Think about destiny being in the same realm as luck. Both of these words are used in a sense of fantasy or excuse when it really shouldn't be. From the words of Oprah Winfrey, "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity".

Don't get mad at someone for succeeding and throw it away by saying they were "destined" or they were "lucky". If you're saying things like that you're part of the problem. They just did the work and you have to as well.
Personally, I think those words cheapen and mock your success. People who say those things don't understand the time, effort, energy, failure, sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears you've gone through to make something of yourself. You looked deep inside, found your passion and worked at it til you succeeded. Luck and Destiny have nothing to do with it.
Here is what really happens. If you put your thoughts and energy towards a goal and put the time in to be great at that passion, that "luck" or "destiny" will fall in your lap. Immersing yourself in that passion will bring you around the people that rise you up. Learning every day and actively being apart of that community will boost you to success. It's all a matter of time and consistency from that point forward.

If you're one of those people who says, "Oh, they're just lucky", or "Eh, they were destined to be something"; take a step back and check yourself. Remember that they put in the time and effort to be where they are, and you'll get there too if you do the same thing.
Next time those thoughts pop into your head, ask yourself, "I wonder how he/she made that happen". Delve into it and find out how they succeeded. Those stories can give you hints and clues to something you might not be doing that could be the 1 thing you needed to succeed yourself.
Don't just take it from me, Nike among many others say the same thing. Check out the Nike Commercial below.
